Centella Step by Step
Centella Step by Step is an illustrated machine diagram that visualizes the transformation of Centella asiatica from a natural plant into consumer products such as skincare, herbal remedies and wellness items. The project was designed to simplify a complex process into an educational and visually engaging experience for viewers unfamiliar with the topic. Rather than creating a highly technical diagram, I approached the project through illustration to make the information feel approachable and memorable.

The challenge of this project was translating a detailed scientific and production process into a visual system that felt easy to follow without overwhelming the viewer. I wanted the diagram to communicate information clearly while still feeling playful, organic and visually interesting. Since the audience was unfamiliar with the process, it was important to create a flow that naturally guided the eye from beginning to end.

Concept
The visual concept was inspired by the organic nature of Centella itself. Instead of designing a traditional industrial-style machine diagram, I transformed the process into a flowing illustrated system where the plant physically becomes part of the machine.
Illustration became the main focus of the project. I explored soft textures, hand-drawn forms and earthy green tones to create a more human and approachable interpretation of an educational diagram
Research
I really enjoyed the outcome of this project because it allowed me to explore illustration in a more conceptual way and use it to communicate a process visually. Instead of relying on a technical or heavily informational approach, I was able to expand the visual language of the piece through organic shapes, textures and playful forms. This project also made me realize how illustration can transform educational content into something more engaging and approachable for people in public spaces, where visuals often need to capture attention quickly while still communicating clearly.
